A System Designed to Save Lives—Not Delay Care
Camille’s Promise advocates for policy reform and real access to long-term mental health and substance use treatment.
Who We Are
-
Camille’s Promise is a Texas-based initiative focused on closing the gaps between mental health care, addiction treatment, and insurance coverage—because recovery should not depend on access, timing, or luck.
-
Camille’s Promise exists to drive systemic reform at the intersection of mental illness, substance use, and insurance failure.
We advocate for policies that ensure:
Immediate psychiatric evaluation following overdose events
Access to long-term stabilization—not just short—term crisis care
Integration between mental health and substance use treatment
Real enforcement of mental health parity laws
Because recovery requires continuity—and continuity requires a system that works.
-
Across Texas, families are navigating a fragmented system:
Emergency rooms stabilize - but do not sustain recovery
Insurance often denies extended care
Mental health and addiction services remain siloed
Workforce shortages limit access statewide
The result is a cycle of crisis, discharge, and relapse—one that is predictable, preventable, and unacceptable.
Camille’s Promise focuses on changing the system.
-
We are not focused on isolated incidents. We are focused on structural change.
Our work includes:
Legislative advocacy and policy development
Engagement with state leaders and regulatory bodies
Public awareness and media outreach
Resource alignment for families navigating care
We work to ensure that every touchpoint in the systems leads forward—not back to crisis.
-
We believe:
Recovery should be continuous—not episodic
Care should be coordinated—not fragmented
Families should not have to navigate this alone
Camille’s Promise is committed to building a system where recovery is possible—and supported—at every stage.
